Location Information
Welcome to the St.
James Inn Bed & Breakfast. This house, built in 1914 by Walter Kokernot for
his wife Virginia, and family of four sons and one daughter, boasts of 6 grand
bedrooms, with private baths and fireplaces, 20 other rooms, fine wood
floors, and outstanding details. The entire house contains great
architectural embellishments. The
dividing room pocket doors are very handsome in that they are three-quarter
leaded glass that makes the morning light glisten over the walls for a
happy awakening in the lobby. There is much space to enjoy. The house holds the
corner of St. James and St. Andrew and is two blocks from the downtown shopping
and touring area. Nestled under 100 year old pecan and oak trees, the grounds
and porches are an inviting retreat from a busy world. The expansive public
areas of the house allow you to roam freely and yet find a private spot for
relaxing and reflecting. You will find the town filled with friendly folk and
lots of shopping and antiquing opportunities. You may enjoy restaurants that
include places where Nolan Ryan dines or Texas Monthly top rated barbecue is
served in family restaurants. Walking and touring will find you searching out
other homes and buildings of significant architecture. Some were built with hard
earned cotton money, some with cattle money, some with oil money and some with
inherited money.......it's a great little place. It's a little undiscovered spot
in Texas...Come on out and see us! We're not kidding when we say -- This Is
Texas!
